Progress continues on our Parks & Rec Bond Projects! Caldwell Park is nearing completion - just in time for residents to enjoy the City’s first splash pad this summer! The Academy-Gibson Athletic Fields are looking great as well, with an anticipated re-opening this fall.

Caldwell Park:

Final touches are being made as we quickly approach the park's much-anticipated re-opening this summer! Sod has been laid and the irrigation system installation is complete at the baseball and multi-purpose fields. Crews completed installation of the City’s first splash-pad, installed fencing around the playground, and the asphalt trail around the baseball fields is complete. Crews are finishing up lighting work around the amphitheater, resurfacing the tennis ball/pickleball courts, and finishing the lining of the basketball courts.

Academy-Gibson Athletic Fields:

The concession stand and the sidewalks leading to it are now officially complete! Renovations on the restroom and storage facility is now finished and crews poured concrete around those buildings. Next, crews will continue renovating the storage building adjacent to Webb Field.

J.E. “Jim” Ramseur Park:

Site grading and curb installation continues at our newest park of the west side of the city. Crews are working on constructing bridges that will become part of the Clark Creek Greenway extension. Storm drainage system installation continues as crews install stone into the large drainage system that will be underneath the park’s primary parking lot.

Skate Park, Pump Track, and Sculpture Garden:

Our Parks & Rec team is reviewing final cost estimates and finalizing design details ahead of a council presentation next week where City Council will be asked to vote on the final design of the park and amenities.

Hartsell Park, Poplar Tent Trailhead Park, and Wilson Street Park are still in the design phase.
