Since last month’s update, all buildings at Marvin Caldwell Park have been built – including the covered basketball court, restroom facility, amphitheater, and the Optimist Shelter. Crews are now beginning to paint and install the interior fittings. The splashpad has been poured and the main parking lot curbing has to be installed and the tennis court parking lot has been paved. Caldwell Park is still on schedule to open this summer and will be home to the City’s first splash pad.
At J.E. “Jim” Ramseur Park, storm drain installation is still underway and crews have started installing the park’s water system. Crews have begun construction on the retention system that will manage water runoff near the parking lot. J.E. “Jim” Ramseur Park, the City’s first park in the northwest, is still on schedule to open next summer.
At the Academy-Gibson Fields, crews have competed the installation of the sub-turf drainage system and are gearing up to install the turf field once it’s delivered in early March. Plumbing and electrical work is complete in the storage and restroom facilities and the foundations for both buildings will be poured soon. Crews are beginning to install the border curb and fencing construction is underway. This project is still on track to be completed this fall.
The David Phillips Park is still on track to be our next project that goes out to bid, followed by the Academy-Gibson Skatepark, Pump Track, and Sculpture Garden. The Poplar Tent Trailhead Park, Hartsell Park, and Wilson Street Park are still in the design phase.
