Project Updates

Members of the Ramseur Family joined City leaders to officially break ground on the new J.E. “Jim” Ramseur Park! This is the City’s first new park in 23 years and the first park in northwest Concord.

Named in honor of former Council Member Jim Ramseur, this park will serve residents in the fastest growing area of our city. As part of the Parks & Rec Bond package approved by voters in 2022, the new Ramseur Park will include a splash pad, six lighted pickleball courts, a small and large dog park, multiple playgrounds, open green space, three restroom facilities and six additional shelters.

Mr. Ramseur served the City of Concord for more than 30 years. His passion for our City’s history and vision for the future is reflected in many of the places residents love today. Mr. Ramseur was instrumental in helping the City strategically plan for its anticipated growth and recognized the need for more parks and greenways to enhance residents’ quality of life and better serve the growing population.

The new Ramseur Park is located on Cox Mill Road, behind Cox Mill Elementary School. Construction of the park will take about two years.
